What Are XR Piano’s Performance Effects? Introducing the Current Rating Effects and the 3D Effect Mode in Development
For those who think, “It’d be fun if playing piano came with effects that made it feel more exciting.”
In this article, we’ll introduce the performance effects unique to XR piano available today, along with a glimpse of the 3D effect mode currently in development.
How XR Piano Effects Transform Your Playing
Traditional piano practice was a simple experience — press a key, and a sound comes out. With XR piano, MR (Mixed Reality) technology makes it possible to overlay virtual visual effects on top of your playing.
Adding visual flair brings practice closer to “playing a game,” helping you stay motivated and feel more immersed.
Sigure’s Current Performance Effects
In the current version of Sigure, a Bad / Good / Great rating effect is displayed in sync with the timing of your playing. The more precisely you time your keystrokes, the flashier the effect — naturally building an instinct to want to play more accurately.
The mechanism where your score keeps climbing as your combo continues creates a sense of accomplishment similar to rhythm games. The feeling of “I want to play that again” makes it easier to keep up a regular practice habit.
In Development: 3D Effect Mode

Sigure has a “3D Effect Mode” in development, designed to make your playing even more exciting. The goal is an immersive experience unique to XR piano, where virtual effects spread out into the space around you every time you press a key.
3D Effect Mode is an additional feature currently in development. The image shown is a concept rendering, and the actual specifications may change. Once a release date is decided, we’ll announce it on our official site.
Why Effects Boost Practice Motivation
Visual effects aren’t just “decoration.” Having your playing and the effects respond to each other has a real psychological effect that helps you keep up your practice.
- Motivation to play accurately: Since a Great rating triggers a flashier effect, your instinct to play accurately naturally increases. Improving your accuracy becomes directly tied to “fun.”
- Immersion reduces distractions: Effects spreading across your field of view help you stay focused on playing, reducing boredom or distraction during practice. It becomes easier to maintain high concentration even during short practice sessions.
- Your playing becomes “expression”: With effects added, playing stops being just about producing sound — it starts to feel like “I’m creating something in this space.” Playing itself becomes more enjoyable.
An Effects Experience Made Possible Only Through XR
3D Effect Mode is an experience made possible specifically because of XR (MR/AR) technology. With your real keyboard and hands visible, virtual effects overlaid on top create the sensation that “magic is coming out of my own hands.”
Unlike watching footage through a screen, the effects blend into the real space around you through the Meta Quest 3 / 3s’s passthrough, making the depth of immersion something genuinely unique to XR piano.
